Research conducted in this laboratory is classified
into three areas. We try to synthesize crystals of biomolecules
in a programed manner by using deoxyribonucleotide (DNA)
as a periodic crystallization template and DNA binding
molecules as a vehicle for arranging proteins and nucleic
acids on DNA crystals. We are also interested in design,
synthesis and characterization of organic molecules
useful for regulating and sensing activities of biomolecules
and thus for understanding biological processes at a
molecular level. Finally, we are in quest of general
methodologies applicable to chemical synthesis of proteins
with more than 200 amino acids and/or site-specific
modifications such as glycosylation and phosphorylation.
